Abstract

Material and methods. Data includes 308 growth studies (literary data), urban samples, each age/sex group consist of about 100 persons. Scattering diagrams were used to estimate the intensity of secular changes. Results. The analysis fix significant increase of height, weight and chest girth of children of both sexes in different ontogenesis periods (adolescence and youth), which takes place apart with the escalation of the anthropogenic stress level (growth of quantity and density of population of urban aglomerations, level of pollution, level of information stress). The major contribution to secular dynamics of final somatic status belongs to adolescence as compared to youth, the intensity of secular changes of body dimensions is greater in 13-year-old adolescents compared to 17-year-old young males and females. 17-year-old males show more pronounced secular changes compared to females of the same age in connection with prolonged and active processes of morphofunctional development, which are practically completed in 17-year-old females. Most intensive secular changes during the historic interval from 1880s till 2010s are fixed for height as the marker of longitudinal skeletal growth, less temporal intensity is shown for transversal body development indices – weight and especially chest girth, which characterizes female somatic status first of all. Conclusion. Thus the intensity of secular somatic dynamics has pronounced age/sex specificity and decreases from skeletal dimensions towards transversal body dimensions - weight and chest girth. Combination of temporal dynamics of different anthropometric traits witnesses to the secular increase of body leptosomy, first of all in girls/females.
