The journal publishes research articles on different aspects of biological and historical anthropology, methodology and techniques of anthropological investigations, as well as papers from neighboring scientific fields closely connected with main topics of the journal. Each issue also contains information on events in academic life, conferences, symposia etc, commentaries and book reviews. 

The Journal operates a “single-blind peer-review” policy. All submitted manuscripts are evaluated by the Editor-in-Chief and suitable manuscripts are sent for peer review. The reviewers are leading researchers in the field of biological, historical anthropology and researchers in the neighboring scientific fields from different Russian research institutions. 

The publication of research materials is free-of-charge
