The informative relevance of osteometric researches in modern anthropology

Abstract

The question of application of osteometric data in anthropological researches and current state of methodological developments are considered in the article. The main aim was to analyze the results obtained by different authors from this country and abroad in the field of sex diagnostics and stature reconstructions from skeletal remains, evaluation of the skeleton robustness and life-time somatotypes from osteometric data. The question of prediction of missing parts of skeleton was also discussed. In conclusion the importance of osteological researches for anthropology in such fields as anthropogenesis and ethnogenesis is emphasized.
