Abstract

Hormonal anthropology as a scientific discipline was formed at the Department of Anthropology of MSU in the middle of 1970’s. Current state of research of individual hormonal profile and interindividual variability in the secretion levels of sex hormones in the organism of healthy people is discussed in the article. New information was received concerning the type of distribution and combination of endocrine formulas of sex hormones as an integrative characteristic of the organism and its type of development (biological age) and constitution. Population-ecological approach was developed in the research of the hormonal status of healthy people in postnatal ontogenesis. However the formative influence of sex hormones is mostly observed under pathological conditions. That is why it is necessary to investigate main aspects of the variability of hormonal status of healthy people and that of people with some changes of hormonal homeostasis.
