In anthropology the problem of integrity and its investigation was always of great importance, especially in constitutionology. But there were no works in anthropological literature devoted to the history of thise problem, its basic concepts and techniques. A holistic approach in physiological anthropology was originally due to its integrated program. Over the last decade, thanks to the new theoretical and methodological principles and new technologies, the approach has been refined. In one of the branches of physiological anthropology – human population physiology – holistic approach was used in the study of physiological status of a population as a cohesive structure defined by persistent connections; when studying morphophysiological and other system correlations; and also the variability of correlations during ontogenesis. The results are used to interpret the roles of various components of the basic characteristics of a holistic organism – constitution.
