Abstract

To study the level of consolidation and subdivision of the Turkic-speaking indigenous group of Southern Siberia – the Shors – we analyzed the structure of gene pools of the Shors within their regional groups. The survey covered Abakan Shors Tashtyp district of the Republic of Khakassia, mountain Shors Tashtagol district of Kemerovo region, as well as local rural sub-populations of mountain Shors: Ust-Anzass, Ust-Kabyrzin and Kyzyl-Shor Shors. The assessment of subdivision of the Shor ethnic group was held with the involvement of surnames and autosomal DNA markers: CCR2Val64Ile; CCR5del32; ALU: ACE1, TPA25, A25, PV92, ApoA1, B65, F13B. The source of information for the analysis was the ancestral records of house books of Matursk and Tashtyp rural councils of Tashtyp district of the Republic of Khakassia (Abakan Shor), Ust-Anzassk, Ust-Kabyrzinsk and Kyzyl-Shor territorial administrations of Tashtagol district of Kemerovo region (the mountain Shors). We studied the records for three time intervals (1940-50, 1970-73, 2000-2010), which corresponds to three disjoint generations of the Shors. The total amount of data collected was 249 names of 8107 people. Based on the frequency of surnames, by the method of Nei, genetic distances (d) between generations for each subpopulation of the Shors were calculated. The similarity of the studied subpopulations to each other was evaluated using the coefficient of kinship for isonymy (Ri). Autosomal DNA markers genotyped on a single panel by PCR method in 197 DNA samples of the Shors. 159 samples belonged to the mountain Shors, and 38 to Abakan Shors. On the basis of allele frequencies, by the method of Nei, genetic distances (d) between Shor subpopulations were calculated. The level of interpopulation differences at different levels of population hierarchy – the Shors of Southern Siberia, local groups of Abakan and mountain Shors, local sub-population of mountain Shors we assessed with an indicator of interpopulation differences GST. The results of the analysis in the three ancestral generations of the Shors (1940, 1970, 2000.) reflect the growth in all subpopulations of the Shor migration index (v) and the kinship coefficient on isonymy (Ri). Genetic distances (d), calculated from the frequencies of surnames between Shors generations within local subpopulations, indicate a change in their population-genetic structure. These DNA markers characterize Shors subdivided population of Southern Siberia (Gst = 1.21%), demonstrate the peculiarity of the gene pool of Abakan Shors (d = 0.375), and reflect the continuing“subdivision (0.0079
