Abstract

6 non-metric epigenetic traits (cranioscopic program) were investigated in 372 skulls relating to Yamnaya and Catacombnaya archaeological cultures from Azov-Caspian steppes. Significant differences were revealed between the Azov and Caspian population of Yamnaya culture. Similarity of the populations related to Catacombnaya culture from the south of the Don lower reaches was shown, compared to the extreme specificity of the most northern population from the right bank of the Don. Possible reason for this specificity can be participation of some Northern Caucasoid population in anthropological formation of the last group.
