Abstract

Main trends and achievements of anthropoecological investigations at Research Institute of Anthropology, MSU, are reviewed. Among the most important achievements of Russian anthropoecology are the following: large-scaled monitoring of modern populations of different landscape zones of the USSR, investigation of the longevity phenomena in Abkhazia; cоnception of an adaptive type as the norm of biological morphofunctional reaction to environment; conception of the age-specific osteomorphic status as an integral characteristics of population health status in different regions; conception of biological (skeletal) age as personal health criteria; creation of a new branch in human morphology – geroanthropology, which describes standard age changes in adults and aging individuals; conception of «human personal time» as a specific property of age morphology space; investigation of children’s growth characteristics in megalopolis.
