Abstract

Materials and methods. This article presents a study of interethnic contacts between the indigenous Turkic-speaking populations of the Tomsk region (Tomsk Tatars: Chats, Eushtints, Tomsk district) and the Turkic-speaking Siberian peoples of the Kemerovo region (Bachat Teleut, Belovo district; Kalmaki Tatars, Yashkinsky district), and also Tatars-settlers from the Volga-Ural region (Kolyon Tatars, Izhmorsky district). The research is based on the modern last names of described populations taken from books on economic accounting of the rural population: a total of 472 last names from 2,684 carriers. Results. We’ve proven that the last names of the Turkic-speaking peoples of Western Siberia are an informative source of data on the structure of their gene pool and the genetic processes taking place in the populations. The inbreeding indices are highest in the population of the Kolyon Tatars (Ir=0,030, Fst=0,001), the highest migration activity was found in Eushtin Tatars (ν=0,111), and the Chats had the most diverse spectrum of last names (α=67,42). Based on the analysis of two indicators – the kinship ratio for isoniaemia (Ri) and genetic distances (d) – the degree of similarity between Tomsk Tatars (Сhats and Eushtints), the Kolyot Tatars and Bachat Teleuts is described. It is shown that last names of the studied Siberian peoples preserved the history of their contacts, in accordance with data of ethnographers and linguists. Conclusion. Two groups of Tomsk Tatars – Chats and Eushtin – are in the process of mixing up with each other, as well as with migrant Tatars from the Volga-Ural region. The ties with the Teleuts, who, in historical retrospect, contributed to the formation of the Tomsk Tatars, have become less intense during the last generations.
