Abstract

The author supports the view point of some anthropologists that the ancestral forms for anatomically modern humans and Neanderthals were representatives of Homo heidelbergensis. According to this view two new subspecies in hominid systematics are introduced and taxonomically named Homo heidelbergensis sapiens and Homo heidelbergensis neanderthalensis. It is precisely these two species that due to geographical isolation lead and transformed to two good hominid species Homo sapiens and Homo neanderthalensis.
