Mikhail Volotzkoy and his «Chronicle of the Dostoyevsky family»

Abstract

Archive and poorly known published materials are researched to consider the history of writing of a fundamental work by a Moscow anthropologist M.V.Volotzkoy on Fedor M. Dostoevsky’s genealogy [Volotzkoy, 1933]. Facts from biography and creative development of a now-forgotten researcher are given; academic atmosphere, in which his work has been designed and created, is described; the results followed from the study of the famous writer genealogy are discussed.
