Estimation of surnames structure as an indicator of population-genetic characteristics of the native populations of southern Siberia

Abstract

On the basis of the surname analysis genetic structure in the three generations of the native populations of the southern Siberia – the Kumandins, Tubalars, Chelkans and Shors – was studied. Preservation of the ethnos-forming block of surnames was observed and the tendency to accumulation of rare surnames in the populations was revealed. For three generations in the native populations of Altai-Sayan mountains the decreasing of inbreeding was observed, and increasing of the migrations index indicator and a surname variety. The genetic distances between generations of 1940’s, 1970’s and 2000’s demonstrate the transformation of population-genetic structure of the Kumandins, Tubalars, Chelkans and Shors, which is mostly expressed in the poulations of Kumandins and Tubalars.
