Somatic development (17 anthropometric characteristics) of Moscow children and adolescents examined by the authors in 2005–2006 is analyzed comparatively to the corresponding data collected by Moscow anthropologists in 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. The absence of significant changes in skeletal and muscle measurements of modern pre-school and school children is revealed combined with a significant increase of skinfolds thickness. Secular changes of Moscow newborns length and weight are reviewed throughout the period of 1988–2003 with 5-year intervals retrospectively. Significant decrease of both characteristics is revealed in 1993-1998 as compared to the previous 5 years, with the following rehabilitation and even increase in 1998–2003 as compared to late 1980s – early 1990s values.
