Somatic and hormonal status of the inhabitants of Novgorod region

Abstract

The results of the complex anthropological investigation of the native population of Novgorod region are given: somatic development, secretion of sex hormones (estradiole and testosterone), sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG). Altogether 179 women from 20 to 50 years old were studied. For comparison the level of steroid hormones in the Moscow female sample (N=480) was determined. Some specific patterns of hormonal status were found in Novgorod women that can prove the exertion of their functional mechanisms.
